Most cactuses and succulents require bright, indirect sunlight for 6–8 hours daily. Direct sunlight may scorch sensitive varieties, while insufficient light can cause leggy growth. For indoor care, place them near a south or east-facing window. Use grow lights in low-light conditions to supplement natural light.

Cactuses and succulents prefer deep but infrequent watering. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. During the growing season (spring and summer), water thoroughly once every 2–3 weeks, while in fall and winter, reduce watering to once a month or less as the plants enter dormancy. Avoid letting water sit in the pot's tray to prevent root rot.

Cactuses and succulents thrive in a well-draining potting mix to prevent root rot. Use a commercial cactus and succulent mix, or prepare your own by combining two parts sand or perlite, one part garden soil, and one part compost or cocopeat. Adding small gravel or pumice improves aeration. Ensure the pot has adequate drainage holes.
