The Epipremnum Pinnatum 'Cebu Blue' (widely adored as the Cebu Blue Pothos) is an enchanting, silvery-blue vining aroid native to the island of Cebu in the Philippines. Celebrated for its unique metallic sheen and dramatic transformational growth, this versatile climber brings a refreshing cool-toned elegance to indoor plant collections.

In its juvenile form, it produces sleek, lance-shaped leaves with an unmistakable metallic, blue-gray glaze that reflects ambient light with a subtle steel-blue glow. When provided with vertical support like a moss pole, the vine transitions into its spectacular mature form, producing massive, deeply fenestrated split leaves that rival wild Monsteras.

Shimmering Metallic Blue-Green Sheen The signature asset of 'Cebu Blue' is its cool silvery-blue foliage. The metallic sheen catches ambient indoor light beautifully, setting it apart from ordinary green pothos varieties and providing a stunning contrast in multi-plant arrangements.

Vertical Climbing & Fenestration Potential While it cascades gracefully from hanging planters or floating shelves, training this plant upward along a moist moss pole encourages its aerial roots to anchor. Climbing triggers rapid leaf sizing and unlocks dramatic pinnate splits (fenestrations) on mature foliage.

Caution: Toxic to Pets Like all premium members of the Araceae family, 'Cebu Blue' contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing or ingesting any part of the leaves or stems will cause immediate oral burning, swelling, and digestive discomfort in dogs and cats. Keep it safely elevated out of reach.

Light & Color

▾

Requires consistent, bright indirect filtered light. Ample ambient lighting is essential to maintain the vibrant silvery-blue hue and prevent the foliage from reverting to plain dull green. Protect it strictly from harsh, direct afternoon sun to prevent leaf scorch.

Watering

▾

Allow the top 50% of the soil mixture to dry out fully before providing a thorough, deep soak. While it is an adaptable grower, its root system dislikes sitting in soggy, waterlogged potting medium. Always ensure your container has free-flowing drainage holes.

Soil & Care

▾

Adapts easily to standard household humidity (45% to 60%), though higher humidity will speed up growth and encourage larger leaves. Pot it in an ultra-chunky, well-aerated aroid mix combining rich peat or coco coir heavily amended with orchid bark, perlite, and horticultural charcoal.
