Our Story

A hobby that refused to stay a hobby

Soiled didn't start as a business plan. It started as a collection — plants acquired, traded, obsessed over, and talked about endlessly between two friends who couldn't stop finding more things to grow.

"We kept discovering plants that deserved to be in more homes. It felt wrong to keep them to ourselves."

When it became clear that other collectors across India felt the same pull — that hunger for something unusual, something alive and strange and beautiful — turning the hobby into a mission felt less like a decision and more like the obvious next step.

Meet Prince & Rahul

Prince Sarmah

Co-Founder · The Rare Seeker

Prince is the one who disappears for hours at a collector's nursery and emerges with three plants nobody's heard of and zero regrets. His personal collection leans dramatic — statement leaves, unusual structures, plants that make guests stop mid-conversation and ask "what on earth is that?" He has a particular weakness for Anthuriums in all their wild, sculptural variety.

Rahul Singh

Co-Founder · The Steady Hand

Rahul is the reason Soiled actually works. While Prince is deep in a research rabbit hole about a new Anthurium species, Rahul is thinking about the customer who just bought their first plant and needs it to actually survive. He has a genuine love for easy-care plants that reward even the most irregular waterers — a Pothos evangelist who believes every home can be greener with the right starting point.
