The Colocasia 'Siren Sunmoon' is a breathtaking, ultra-rare tropical showstopper that looks as if it were meticulously painted by nature itself. Originating as an elite hybrid out of Thailand, this prized Elephant Ear variety instantly commands the spotlight with a sensational, glowing color pattern that sets it miles apart from standard garden aroids.
The visual drama of this fast-growing perennial is pure art. Its massive, heart-shaped foliage features a magnificent sunburst center of creamy-yellow and golden hues that contrast sharply against deep green margins. Striking red-tinted primary veins slice through the variegation, while the entire masterpiece is beautifully finished by a rich purple-black underside. As the plant matures, the leaves can even develop a mesmerizing blush of pink, capturing the essence of a vibrant sunrise and sunset right on the blade.
Fiery Sunburst Variegation
The defining asset of 'Siren Sunmoon' is its highly graphic, high-contrast center. The brilliant golden-yellow cores radiate outward into the deep emerald border like liquid fire, delivering a dynamic solar look that catches light beautifully.
Prehistoric Scale & Posture
Unlike Alocasias whose leaves point skyward, this true Colocasia holds its dramatic, heavy shields on stout stems that nod gracefully toward the ground. It grows rapidly into an imposing, architectural specimen that easily transforms any bright space into a lush paradise.
Caution: Toxic to Pets
Like all premium members of the taro family, this plant contains needle-like insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing or swallowing any part of the raw leaves or stems will cause immediate oral burning, swelling, and severe gastrointestinal discomfort in dogs and cats. Keep it safely out of reach.
Light
▾
Requires consistent, bright filtered sunlight to partial sun. While it loves high-intensity ambient lighting to maximize the expression of its golden sunburst variegation and crimson veins, protect it from harsh, scorching mid-afternoon solar rays in hot climates to avoid browning the delicate variegated tissue.
Watering
▾
Unlike dry-loving Jewel Alocasias, this Colocasia is an absolute moisture lover. Keep the potting mix consistently and evenly wet. It handles high moisture beautifully and should never be allowed to dry out completely, making it an exceptional candidate for rich, boggy setups or heavy, frequent water schedules.
Soil & Humidity
▾
Thrives beautifully in warm, highly humid environments (60%+ humidity). Plant it in a rich, fertile, heavy organic potting medium that holds onto moisture while allowing just enough aeration. A mix of rich soil, compost, coco peat, and a splash of coarse perlite keeps the underground corm happily fed and growing massive.
