The Hoya Kerrii Green, universally cherished as the Heart Leaf Hoya or Sweetheart Plant, is one of the most iconic and recognizable tropical wax plants in the world. Famous for its thick, fleshy, and perfectly heart-shaped emerald leaves, this slow-growing semi-succulent climber brings a beautiful touch of nature's symmetry to any indoor space.

As it matures, this epiphytic vine slowly extends trailing woody stems that can be trained up a trellis or left to cascade elegantly over the edges of planters. Its striking silhouette and remarkably easy-going nature make it an exceptional statement piece for minimalist shelves, bright windowsills, or as a meaningful green gift.

Iconic Heart-Shaped Silhouette The defining charm of the Hoya Kerrii is its flawless heart configuration. Each thick, waxy leaf retains its distinct, plump shape year-round, serving as a striking, low-maintenance conversation starter.

100% Non-Toxic and Pet-Safe Like all true Hoyas, the Heart Leaf Hoya is completely non-toxic to both cats and dogs. You can style it openly on low tables, workspaces, or open plant stands with absolute peace of mind.

The Succulent Rule: Do Not Overwater! Its thick, waxy leaves function as storage tanks for water. The plant completely detests stagnant, heavy mud at its roots. Always allow the potting medium to dry out entirely before providing a thorough soak to prevent root rot.

Light

▾

Requires bright, indirect, filtered light to sustain steady leaf development and maintain deep green color. It can happily tolerate a small amount of soft, direct morning sun. Avoid deep, dark corners, which will cause the plant to stop growing entirely.

Watering

▾

Treat it exactly like a succulent. Allow the soil mix to dry out 75% to 100% from top to bottom before watering deeply. When in doubt, leave it dry for an extra week. Slightly pliable or puckered leaves are a clear indicator that the plant is thirsty.

Soil & Care

▾

Thrives beautifully in standard household humidity levels. It requires an exceptionally loose, fast-draining potting substrate. Always use a chunky mixture combining coarse orchid bark, perlite, charcoal, and coco coir to keep the roots highly aerated.
