The Lithops (Assorted Set of 5), famously known as Living Stones, represents one of nature’s greatest masterclasses in botanical camouflage. Native to the arid desert plains of southern Africa, these fascinating, stone-mimicking succulents have evolved over millennia to blend seamlessly into rocky gravel beds to escape grazing animals.
Each plant consists of a pair of bulbous, fused succulent leaves separated by a subtle central fissure. This hand-picked set of 5 features an assorted palette of earthy terracotta, slate grey, rust, olive green, and rose tones, adorned with intricate, brain-like window patterns on their flat upper surfaces.
Assorted Colors & Mature Size (~1 Inch) This curated set includes 5 distinct, well-established specimens measuring approximately 1 inch in diameter each. At this mature size, the plants display defined leaf windows and are primed for their seasonal bloom cycle, producing daisy-like yellow or white flowers right from their central fissure.
100% Indian-Grown & Shipped Bare-Root Unlike delicate, freshly imported specimens that frequently succumb to rot in local conditions, these plants are proudly grown and acclimatized in India. They are hardy, weather-resilient, and carefully shipped bare-root to protect their taproots and prevent moisture damage during transit.
100% Pet-Friendly & Non-Toxic Great news for pet owners! Lithops species are completely non-toxic and harmless to dogs and cats according to ASPCA guidelines, making them a worry-free curiosity piece for sunny windowsills and accessible tabletops.
Light & Sunlight▾
Requires intense, direct sunlight. Provide at least 4 to 5 hours of direct morning sunlight or bright, unfiltered window light daily. Adequate sunlight maintains their compact stone shape, deepens their vibrant markings, and prevents unsightly stretching (etiolation).
Watering & Splitting Cycle▾
Water with extreme restraint. Only water when the flat top surfaces feel soft and show horizontal wrinkles or puckering. Crucial rule: Strictly do not water during the leaf-splitting stage (when a new pair emerges from the center). The new leaves draw all necessary moisture and nutrients directly from the old outer leaves until they wither into paper-dry husks.
Soil & Potting▾
Upon arrival, pot your bare-root Lithops in an ultra-gritty, pure mineral potting substrate (85% to 90% inorganic grit such as pumice, perlite, lava rock, and coarse river sand with only 10% to 15% organic cactus soil). Always use breathable terracotta pots with clear drainage holes. Do not water immediately after potting—allow them 5 to 7 days to settle.
