The Manimulla (Porana paniculata), affectionately known as the Snow Creeper or Bridal Creeper, is a vigorous woody climber native to the Indian subcontinent. When in full bloom during the winter months, it is a sight to behold—producing massive, dense panicles of thousands of tiny, star-shaped white flowers. The fragrance is delicate and sweet, often described as similar to baby powder. Its large, heart-shaped leaves are covered in fine greyish hairs, giving the entire vine a soft, silvery-green appearance even when it isn't covered in its signature "snowdrift" of blossoms.
💡 The "Winter Snow" of India
In many parts of India, where actual snow is a myth, the Manimulla provides the perfect substitute. During November and December, the vine becomes so heavily laden with white flowers that the foliage completely disappears, creating the illusion of a snow-covered hedge or pergola.

If you have a large space to cover quickly, Manimulla is the answer. It is one of the fastest-growing tropical vines, capable of covering a massive pergola or a long boundary fence in just a couple of seasons. Its woody stems are strong, making it a permanent and sturdy addition to the landscape.

Loves full sun! For the most dramatic flowering display, plant it in a spot where it can soak up at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. While it can grow in partial shade, the flower clusters will be less dense and the growth more elongated.
Watering

Moderate. Once established, it is remarkably drought-tolerant. However, for the best growth and blooming, water regularly when the topsoil feels dry. Ensure the soil is well-draining, as it does not like "wet feet."
Soil & Fertilizer

Adapts to a wide range of soils but thrives in rich, loamy earth. Feed with an organic compost-based fertilizer in late monsoon (September) to give it the nutrients it needs for its heavy winter blooming cycle.
✂️ Pruning and Space Management
Because of its vigorous nature, Manimulla needs space. It is not recommended for small balconies unless you are prepared to prune it frequently. The best time to prune is immediately after the flowering season (late January) to keep it in check and encourage fresh growth for the following year.

This vine can "jump" onto nearby trees or rooftops if left unmonitored. Keep it trained to its intended support and trim any runaway shoots to maintain garden harmony.

This is usually due to excessive nitrogen fertilizer in late autumn, which promotes leaves over flowers. Switch to a phosphorus-rich feed or simple bone meal as winter approaches.
