Sowing & Planting

To start sowing, take a Growbag and fill it with either pure cocopeat or a mixture of 75% river sand and 25% compost. Once the Growbag is filled, evenly sprinkle the seeds across the surface. Lightly cover the seeds with a thin layer of cocopeat or the sand-compost mixture, ensuring they are gently pressed into the growing medium. Water the seeds daily by lightly spraying the surface to keep the soil consistently moist without overwatering. Place the Growbag in a location with full sunlight to promote healthy growth. Under these conditions, the seeds should germinate within a week, and regular care will lead to successful growth.

Feeding & Fertilisation

Ghost chilli plants require regular feeding to support their growth and fruiting. In the early stages, a nitrogen-rich fertilizer is essential to promote healthy leaves and stems. Organic options like vermicompost or well-rotted manure work well, or you can use a balanced NPK fertilizer (10-10-10) every 2-3 weeks. Once the plant starts flowering and fruiting, switch to a fertilizer higher in phosphorus and potassium, such as a 5-10-10 or 10-20-20 blend, to encourage robust blooms and fruit development. Organic fertilizers like compost tea or fish emulsion can also be applied every two weeks to boost nutrient intake. Additionally, using Epsom salt once a month helps improve nutrient absorption and fruiting. Always fertilize after watering to avoid root burn, and make sure to fertilize every 2-3 weeks during the growing season for the best results.

Watering

Water the ghost chilli plants regularly, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply when the top 1-2 inches of soil feel dry. During hot or dry spells, you may need to increase watering frequency, but be careful not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot. Using well-drained soil helps prevent water stagnation around the roots.

Growing Media

Ghost chilli (Bhut Jolokia) thrives in well-draining, nutrient-rich soil. A recommended mix includes 40% garden soil, 30% cocopeat, and 30% compost. This combination ensures the soil is loose, retains moisture, and provides essential nutrients. You can also add a small amount of perlite or sand to improve drainage.

Sunlight

Ghost chilli plants need full sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day. Choose a location with direct sunlight exposure, such as a sunny balcony, terrace, or garden. Adequate sunlight is crucial for healthy growth, fruiting, and the development of the plant's intense heat.
