Introduce a wild, architectural jungle aesthetic to your indoor collection with the Philodendron 'Mayoi'. Native to the tropical riverbanks of Brazil, this highly coveted climbing aroid is celebrated for its spectacular, multi-lobed leaves that look beautifully similar to a delicate palm frond or fern leaf.

As this fast-growing climber matures, its glossy emerald-green leaves develop deep, dramatic incisions along the margins. Complemented by reddish-maroon tones on the petioles (leaf stems) of new growth, it acts as a highly graphic, structural centerpiece for modern interior plant spaces.

Architectural Palm-Like Fronds The defining charm of the Mayoi is its multi-fingered leaf silhouette. Unlike standard heart-shaped philodendrons, its leaves naturally split into multiple slender lobes as the plant climbs, delivering an immediate texture upgrade to your layout.

Give It a Totem to Mature! To see the leaves size up and develop their signature deep lobes quickly, provide this vine with a sturdy moss pole or trellis. Securing its aerial roots vertically mimics its natural tree-climbing environment, signaling the plant to expand its foliage.

Caution: Toxic to Pets Like most premium aroids, Philodendron Mayoi contains calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing or ingesting the foliage can cause oral swelling, irritation, and digestive discomfort in cats and dogs. Keep it safely elevated or out of reach.

Light

▾

Requires medium to bright, indirect, filtered light. Dappled canopy light is ideal to trigger rapid leaf growth. Strictly avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun, which will quickly scorch and permanently bleach the glossy green lobes.

Watering

▾

Allow the top 50% of the soil mix to dry out fully before watering thoroughly. It is highly sensitive to overwatering and stagnant moisture. Ensure your planter drains completely, and never let the base sit in a pool of water.

Soil & Humidity

▾

Thrives beautifully in moderate to high humidity (50%+). Always pot it in a highly aerated, ultra-chunky aroid mix combining orchid bark, coarse perlite, charcoal, and coco coir to keep oxygen circulating around the root system.
