The Alocasia Ninja (an elite, highly sought-after cultivar of Alocasia reginula) is a striking, dramatic masterpiece in the jewel Alocasia world. While closely related to the classic Black Velvet, the 'Ninja' turns up the visual scale with rounder, thicker, and noticeably heavier cardboard-like leaves wrapped in an ultra-deep, near-black velvet coat.
The high-contrast display of this cultivar is pure art. Its dark, midnight-colored leaves feature incredibly bold, luminous white-silver veins that are much thicker and more pronounced than its cousins. The margins are outlined in a stark white border, creating a fierce, graphic silhouette that serves as a premium architectural addition to compact modern spaces.
Ultra-Dark Velvet Canvas

Requires consistent, bright, indirect filtered light to help the plant express its signature dark velvet coloration and maintain its thick white veins. Protect it strictly from harsh, direct afternoon solar rays, which will quickly bleach out the dark patina and scorch the delicate velvet texture.
Watering

Allow the top 60% to 75% of the soil mixture to dry out completely before providing a thorough deep soak. Its thick underground rhizome stores moisture efficiently, making it highly sensitive to overwatering and muddy roots. Always ensure water drains away instantly from the base.
Soil & Humidity

Thrives beautifully in elevated humidity environments (60% or higher) to keep the thick velvet foliage pristine. It demands an open, ultra-chunky, loose aroid mix combining rich peat amended heavily with orchid bark, coarse perlite, and horticultural charcoal to maintain excellent root aeration.
