The Hoya Krohniana 'Eskimo' (often known as Hoya krohniana 'Super Silver') is a breathtaking miniature wax vine famous for its heart-shaped leaves heavily frosted in shimmering silver. Highly prized by collector enthusiasts, this petite epiphyte brings a luminous, frozen-jewel aesthetic to bright indoor plant displays.
Each small, spade-to-heart-shaped leaf is almost completely enveloped in a dense layer of metallic silver flecks over a dark emerald background. As a compact trailer or climber, it forms cascading stems of frosted foliage, eventually rewarding growers with ball-like clusters of fuzzy white star flowers that release a sweet, perfume-like scent in the evening.
Heavy Frosted Silver Coverage
The hallmark of 'Eskimo' is its extreme silver saturation. Rather than light specks, the leaves are almost entirely washed in metallic silver, catching ambient light with a brilliant shimmer that contrasts beautifully against green foliage.
Compact Heart-Leaf Cascading Habit
Featuring small, thick foliage along fine vining stems, this cultivar is perfectly sized for hanging baskets, plant ladders, or floating shelves without overwhelming small spaces.
100% Pet-Friendly & Safe
Great news for pet owners! The entire Hoya genus is non-toxic to dogs and cats according to ASPCA standards, making this silver-hearted vine a worry-free addition to any room.
Light & Blooming
▾
Requires consistent, bright indirect light to gentle direct morning sunlight. Strong ambient lighting is essential to maintain the dense, saturated silver coating and trigger its fragrant white floral clusters. Protect it from harsh afternoon sun.
Watering
▾
Treat this plant like a semi-succulent. Allow the top 75% of the soil mixture to dry out fully between thorough soakings. Its small, thick leaves store moisture efficiently, making it drought-tolerant and sensitive to overwatering or soggy soil conditions.
Soil & Care
▾
Adapts well to standard household humidity (40% to 60%). It requires an ultra-open, fast-draining potting substrate—combine rich peat or coco coir heavily amended with orchid bark, coarse perlite, and horticultural charcoal to maintain root aeration.
